Observations From Behind Bars

U.S. “News?” and World Report

with one comment

I realize that the press doesn’t even pretend to be objective, any more, and that when the Left is in a election year feeding frenzy even their regular biased print degenerates into school-yard name calling and graffiti. Here’s what passes for “reporting” at U.S. News and World Report, these days ( with running commentary by me, of course).

John McCain’s Sexist Gaffe:
Cindy McCain In A Topless Biker Pageant?

* (US News) Was John McCain aware that when he touted his wife Cindy’s beauty and suggested she compete in a biker beauty pageant, the contest features topless women?

Now, does this dip-shit really think any politician would suggest his wife compete in a topless event?

* If so or even if not, in the words of the late, great Desi Arnaz, McCain has some ‘splainin’ to do. He made the gaffe at a motorcycle rally in South Dakota on Monday that featured an Obama-size crowd (most of whom showed up no doubt to see Kid Rock, Def Leppard, and REO Speedwagon.) [edit]

Of course, they did, its a party, a motorcycle rally, not a political rally. What attic does this woman live in that she feels that’s a telling remark? Further, does the term “Obama sized” make me feel that she’s anything other than a shill for the Left?

* Salon quotes McCain: “I encouraged Cindy to compete,” he told the crowd. “I told her [that] with a little luck, she could be the only woman to serve as both the first lady and Miss Buffalo Chip.”

* Before she becomes first lady, he has to become president. And his chances hinge on winning the votes of white women who are over 40. Chances are, they are more likely to be turned off by McCain’s latest gaffe than they were by Obama’s use of the term “sweetie” twice on the campaign trail earlier this year. At least Obama had the decency to apologize for his indiscretion.

So, this bitter feminist thinks that mature white women are going to be offended by a man with a sense of humor who compliments his wife in public. Only a goofy Liberal could see that as a “gaffe”. Candidate Obama’s use of a term of endearment to his wife is only an “indiscretion” because of the circle they run in. Odd what Democrats think an “indiscretion” is, and is not, from one administration, to the next. If I ever apologize for calling my missus, “sweetie”, just knock me in the head with a stump.

Oh , and someone ought to tell this Affirmative Action hire that the “great” Desi Arnaz was a conga player and passable singer but his real claim to fame was that he married  beautiful Lucille Ball. “You got some ‘splainin’ to do” would hardly be a worthy quotation even if Desi had thought it up, himself.
She would do better to read the great Thomas Jefferson who wrote:

Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper.

I guess the more things change, the more they remain the same.

Get over yourself, Bonnie. You come across like a gossipy shrew, rather than a grown up newspaperman.
